The initiative was conceived to serve as a vehicle for reviving a reading culture that has regrettably waned in my generation due to electronics and gadget civilization.
Reading is key to our cognitive development. Our goal here is to develop an enduring culture of reading.
The Muna's Mobile Library Initiative began at the City of Refuge Orphanage in Abuja.
It aims to make books and reading resources available to individuals in closely-knit communities, chiefly the less privileged.
This initiative puts books straight into the hands of readers, solving the challenges of lack of libraries and accompanying logistics. The rotational 'handing-down system' guarantees participants' exposure to a diverse genre of books.
The project has since been expanded and made available to students of St Paul's International School, Ukehe, Igbo-Etiti Local Govt Area of Enugu State.
With the collaboration of bookstores, educators and well-meaning individuals, we aspire to reach thousands of young people across Nigeria and the world and rekindle their love for books.
